After the war, Horst Antes was one of the co-founders of a new figurative painting in Germany, which was formed as an answer to the abstract concept of Informel Antes was one of the pioneers of this new representational painting. From 1962 on he created typical, unmistakeable figures in painting as in sculpture, which were inspired by the Kachina figures of the Pueblo Indians.
