Heckel turned the sure, obviously quickly executed drawing into an etching (Dube 1908/54). The artists of the Brücke had trained to execute fast drawings. Kirchner had initiated the quarter-hour nudes, where they learned to quickly capture a pose. They had booked a model, which altered her pose every 15 minutes. Heckel had taken the exercise even further drawing what he saw from a moving train. So it might be that he did not even have to ask a model to sit for him to do this drawing. She might have been in a public place and sparked his interest.
