The Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida was one of the leading Spanish sculptors and illustrators of the Concrete Style. His pictorial language is marked by homogenous materials and the division of form into various figure forms. At all times, space was of utmost importance. Chillida's steel sculpture 'Peine del viento' (The Comb of the Wind), buffeted by the sea in the bay of San Sebastián, is certainly one of the major works of the twentieth century. Since 2000, one of his emblematic sculptures can also been seen in front of the Office of the Federal German Chancellor. Chillida took part in documenta four times and has received several awards, including the Kaiserring art prize from the German, the Praemium Imperiale, the Grand Jury Prize of the Venice Biennale and the Wilhelm Lehmbruck Prize of the city of Duisburg.
