Norbert Tadeusz studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Gerhard Hoehme and Joseph Beuys, whose master student he became. In 1983 he was awarded the Villa Romana Prize. Tadeusz taught at the Düsseldorf Academy for 15 years, then in Berlin and last in Braunschweig.
His paintings are characterized by complex compositions, a convincing formal austerity and overwhelmingly intense colours. His neo-expressionism ties in with the tradition of Classic Modernism. Tadeusz’ is interested in the physicality of humans, animals and objects and the tension between motion and standstill, depicted in a non-embellishing realism which strikes an emotional chord.
