Fernando Botero• Circus
We are pleased to present new paintings and works on paper from the series "Circus" of the Colombian artist Fernando Botero, who will present exemplary works from other artists periods of creation can be supplemented. Fernando Botero is considered the most important and prominent representative of contemporary Latin American art and is with his paintings and sculptures worldwide in the most important collections and museums. Already in the 50s he found his own, today world-famous style. His works of art live from the tension that is created by the emphasis on the volume of a body and the simultaneous reduction of details. Since the mid 70s Botero also increasingly devotes himself to sculpture, thus extending the same principle in the three-dimensional space.
Galerie Thomas has been working closely with the artist for many years and was able to past to realize numerous exhibition projects with him. The gallery also honored Fernando Botero in Munich with an exhibition on his 75th birthday in 2007 and in autumn of the same year in Berlin with a spectacular and successful presentation of his monumental sculptures in the Lustgarten on the Museum Island under the title "Botero in Berlin".
