The Lindenau Museum in the Prinzenpalais of the Residenzschloss Altenburg is showing outstanding works of classic modernism until the end of July 2023. Masterpieces by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Max Pechstein and Marianne von Werefkin are on display alongside works by Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Karl Hofer and Erich Heckel. French Modernism is represented by Othon Friesz, Henri Manguin and Jules Pascin. The exhibition "Kirchner, Pechstein, Werefkin. Masterpieces from the Peltzer Collection" takes the viewer to various places of modernism: cafés and music halls, big cities and remote corners of nature.
The exhibition, which accompanies a double anniversary of the Altenburg museums, is based on a long-term cooperation with the Felix and Herline Peltzer Foundation Collection, which the Lindenau Museum founded in the summer of 2021.
