Neo Rauch Retrospective in France

MO.CO. Montpellier Contemporain presents the first retrospective of Neo Rauch in France. As part of the exhibition "Neo Rauch. The Dream of Reason", 100 works by the most renowned representative of the New Leipzig School will be shown. A large selection of drawings and watercolours, 40 large paintings and other works illuminates the artist's comprehensive oeuvre from the early 1990s to the present day. Many of the works are being exhibited in France for the first time.

The title of the exhibition is inspired by Goya's famous aquatint “El sueño de la razón produce monstrous”. In "The Dream of Reason", Rauch's works, in which scenes, places and epochs are freely combined like dream-like sequences, encourage us to reflect on history and national cultural heritage, on the role of art and the artist in the modern world.

The exhibition, which is accompanied by a catalogue, is on view until 8 October 2023.
